The Homestead
The ‘Homestead’ provides for up to 8 permanent residents and has a transitional respite care programme as a trial for suitability purposes. Most residents are mid to long-term depending on their requirements.
Our experienced staff provides full-time support creating a friendly home environment as close to family living as possible. They also help with developing and fulfilling personal goals in their personal and social lives in a manner that promotes greater confidence, self-esteem, and general well-being. Our policy of actively encouraging ongoing relationships with resident’s family/caregivers and friends helps create a greater involvement and community feel to their care.
We encourage an overall healthy, well-balanced lifestyle for all our residents, this includes nutritionally balanced and varied meals appropriate to dietary needs and exercise so things such as the Sky TV and WiFi use in the two lounges are balanced with activities and outings to the movies, gym and exercise classes, lunches and dinners out, festivals and other events the guys may enjoy.
We have been associated with Special Olympics for over 16 years with many wonderful achievements in a variety of sports, some at a national and international level. All residents are encouraged to participate in physical activity, individually or in a team environment. The Special Olympics has benefited them in many ways both physically and socially.
